This Saturday, September 25 police stations across the nation will be involved in the Controlled Substance Take-Back Initiative. The Drug Enforcement Administration’s “National Take-Back Day” along with local police departments are giving the opportunity for people to safely dispose of drugs. Flu shots could help prevent heart attacks New research shows that having the flu vaccination could reduce the chance of a heart attack by a fifth, according to a study carried out by the University of Lincoln. British people took part in the study and the results showed that patients who had the vaccination had a reduced chance of having a heart attack. Also, the earlier into the flu season the vaccination was given, the further the risk was reduced. According to the Telegraph, people who had the flu vaccination between September and November had close to a 20% less chance of having a heart attack within the next 12 months.

Three in critical condition after eating death cap mushrooms View Larger Map Bydgoszcz – Two members of a family and a friend in Poland are currently in a critical condition in hospital after mistakenly eating the “death cap” mushroom. Having picked the mushrooms in error, a 48-year old father from the city Bydgoszcz in northern Poland cooked and served them up in a dish which included other mushrooms. He, his daughter and her boyfriend all ate the mushrooms. A few hours later all three were admitted to hospital suffering from severe stomach ache and diarrhoea. The daughter, 19-years old, is currently waiting for a life saving liver transplant.
